Worlds collide in Lindsey Klingele’s debut young adult novel, The Marked Girl, an exciting fantasy tale turned upside down. Elissa Sussman, author of Stray, calls The Marked Girl “a magical debut with a big heart.”

When Cedric, crowned prince of Caelum, and his fellow royal friends (including his betrothed, Kat) find themselves stranded in modern-day LA via a magical portal and an evil traitor named Malquin, all they want to do is get home to Caelum—soon. Then they meet Liv, a filmmaker foster girl who just wants to get out of the system and on with her life. As she and Cedric bond, they’ll discover that she’s more connected to his world than they ever could’ve imagined…and that finding home is no easy task.

The Marked Girl has humor, heart, and harrowing adventures, perfect for fantasy lovers and reluctant fantasy readers alike.

This was a pretty good book! Very modern, and if you live on social media (like I do), you will definitely find yourself relating to most of the events in this story. I say most only because it’s a fantasy book. As much as I would die for someone like Cedric to jump out of
a random magical portal, it’s just not going to happen.

The Coffee Book Tag!

Black: A series that’s tough to get into but has a hardcore fan base

A Song of Ice and Fire By George R. R. Martin

Personally I LOVE the TV show, Game of Thrones, but the book is so hard to read. I have the audio book, and the ebook and yet I still can’t get through it. I’ve tried several times since 2011 when the show aired, but I’ll keep trying.

Peppermint Mocha: A book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of year

Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

I always see an influx of Harry Potter books during the holiday season, maybe it’s everyone’s go-to-gift? (but doesn’t everyone and their mom already own a copy?? if they don’t they must live in a closet under the stairs…) Continue reading “The Coffee Book Tag!”
