Seven Reasons to Love Magnus Bane!

To celebrate the recent news of Magnus Bane getting his own adult book series, I have compiled seven reasons why I love Magnus, and why you should too!

7. Malec

I am an avid Malec shipper. When I first read the Mortal Instruments Series, I was enamored by Clace (Clary and Jace, the main OTP) and I didn’t really notice Magnus or Alec Lightwood (I mean I did, but not the way I do now). Alec was such a downer, hence he was one of my least favorite characters. As I grew older, my love for Clace began to fade. Then BOOM Malec hit me in the face like a cream pie, and I was once again hooked on the Shadowhunter world.

6. He Doesn’t Discriminate

“Alexander, I’ve been alive for hundreds of years. I’ve been with men, been with women—with faeries and warlocks and vampires, and even a djinn or two.”

~ Magnus to Alec, City of Fallen Angels

I think people should focus more on personality, and less on gender when it comes to love. Magnus does exactly this! (yeah, okay, he likes attractive people, and not every person he gets with is because of their brain… Peru anyone? The year 1890 comes to mind, and a charango)

5. His Influence in the Media

As a fellow Asian American, I really appreciate what his image brings to Hollywood. I really hope his popularity will open more doors for other Asian American entertainers in the USA.

4. His Many Adventures

Reading The Bane Chronicles was fun, it was like I was travelling with him! I really want to see Peru now, especially Puno. I’ve always wanted to see the places he’s been to in Europe, but he definitely opened my eyes to other destinations.

3. His Fashion

The spiky hair, the glitter, and even his leather rainbow pants are part of what made me fall for Magnus. Back when I first read the series, it was the only thing that made him stand out and what made him so damn interesting.

I wish there were more characters, or even more people who can rock the no pants look.

2. He is a Loyal Friend

I can think of many times when he was a good friend, but the one example that always stands out to me is when he helped out Will and Tessa. Not just them, but their son James. He brought a drunk kid home to friends he hadn’t seen in twenty-five years. Maybe it’s because I’m a young human, but twenty-five years is a long time, but he was still willing to help them out! I think having one good friend is better than having a hundred decent friends, and Magnus is among the best of them.

1. He Never Gives Up on Love

The first love is always the hardest, and yet Magnus eventually recovered from the first unknown mystery girl. He kept meeting people, and living life. Even though he got his heart broken by Camille Belcourt, he still moved forward and fell for Alec.

So there you have it, seven reasons why everyone should love Magnus Bane! I am so hyped for the books to come out! I stalk check out Wesley Chu’s twitter daily, and he occasionally tweets about it! Which just gets me more pumped up!

Why can’t it be 2017 yet?? *sobs*
