Hey all, so here’s my top seven reads of 2016! Four are books that were published this year, and three were books I read for the first time but are older! Happy New Year loves, and I hope 2017 will be sparkling!
7. The Marked Girl by Lindsey Klingele (2016)
I loved this! It was cute, and set in two different dimensions! Plus the cover is so stunning! You can see my review of it here.
6. The Lives of Tao by Wesley Chu (2013)
Personally I’m more of a Fantasy person than a Sy-fy person, but I really enjoyed The Lives of Tao! It made me laugh, and Tao was really bomb.
5. Passenger by Alexandra Bracken (2016)
Time travel, adventure, and romance, I fail to see what’s not to love about this book. Again, another stunning book cover.
4. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (2016)
I am a loyal Shadowhunters fan, so I might be biased when I say this was a badass book. First, we have Emma who is one of the greatest heroines of the year. Then we have Julian and his lovable, reliable self. Then we have the broken and enduring Mark, whom I’ve been shipping with Emma since 2014. Just had to put that out there.
3. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan (2013)
I was a huge Gossip Girl fan growing up, so this kind of reminded me of the Asian version of that. You have a bunch of rich kids, and then the one lesser off kid who gets pulled into their world. Really looking forward to the movie!
2. The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo (2013)
While I was confused by the relationships of this book, I really loved it! It was just a change of pace after reading so many supernatural books about vampires and the same boring old monsters all the time. I really liked it because it explored Chinese and Malaysian folklore. You can see my review of it here!
1. And I Darken by Kiersten White (2016)
This book was literally so great, that I can’t even begin to explain how much I enjoyed it without spouting a fangirl mess. Just read it if you haven’t already, or checkout my review here!
