Hi all, so unfortunately I’m totally swamped with finals. This is just a quick note to let you all know that I’m taking a break, as I haven’t been able to read or try new makeup.
My one year blog anniversary is coming up in May, and I’ve been thinking a lot about what kind of a blogger/reader I want to be. Truthfully before I started blogging I read whatever looked good. I didn’t think about diverse representation, or own voices books. However, this last year has made me realize just how bad my reading habits are. So I want to be a better reader, and support other minorities and own voices authors. I also want to be more aware of the material I am consuming and idolizing.
Honestly, when I first started blogging I wanted to be a travel blogger, like The Texan in Tokyo, Wil Dasovich, or the My Korean Husband blogs/ YouTube Channels. However, my life is really boring and I’m a college student living in the middle of Nowhere, Alaska. So then I thought, “I could blog makeup like Wengie!” However, I don’t really wear as much makeup as I used to– mostly because I’m so busy. Plus, I’ve always wanted to be a writer and bookworm, so I decided to try book blogging. Then I decided to combine the two, because why not?
I’m not sure where I want to go from here, and I find that more people follow me for my book related content, but my makeup reviews get more hits. I also wonder if my makeup posts annoy the book people who follow my blog. . .
So anyway, I guess I’ll have to choose between the two. Depending on how busy/slow my summer goes, I might start vlogging about living in Alaska. So I was thinking that if I start doing that, maybe I should take my makeup stuff to YouTube and keep my book stuff on a blog?
Anyway, whether I decide to move to a different host or not, I’ll be back in mid-May right before my blogversary. Let me know how you feel about the whole makeup/book thing, because I’ll definitely take it into consideration!
Also, I’m going to be moving for the summer to my hometown, which is about three hours away from where I am right now. So, even though the semester ends in two weeks, I’ll still be busy with moving! If possible I would like to reorganize my blog too, so I have a lot to do between now and then.
See you in May!
PS, I’ll still be active on my SNS, so catch me on Twitter if you’re curious about what I’m up too!
