ALLLLLLLLMOSSSTTTTT PARADISSSSSSEEEEEEEE! Haha, just kidding.

Hi all, so. I’m bringing back the Bookish Playlists! It actually did really well last time, and I promised to do one every month, but I haven’t had time until now. So, this month I’ve created a playlist for a kdrama inspired book! This makes me extremely happy because 75% of my music is kpop. So, I’m taking this opportunity to bring you all the jams! Blurb:

A cappella just got a makeover.

Jordan Sun is embarking on her junior year at the Kensington-Blaine Boarding School for the Performing Arts, hopeful that this will be her time: the year she finally gets cast in the school musical. But when her low Alto 2 voice gets her shut out for the third straight year—threatening her future at Kensington-Blaine and jeopardizing her college applications—she’s forced to consider nontraditional options.

In Jordan’s case, really nontraditional. A spot has opened up in the Sharpshooters, Kensington’s elite a cappella octet. Worshipped…revered…all male. Desperate to prove herself, Jordan auditions in her most convincing drag, and it turns out that Jordan Sun, Tenor 1, is exactly what the Sharps are looking for.

Jordan finds herself enmeshed in a precarious juggling act: making friends, alienating friends, crushing on a guy, crushing on a girl, and navigating decades-old rivalries. With her secret growing heavier every day, Jordan pushes beyond gender norms to confront what it means to be a girl (and a guy) in a male-dominated society, and—most importantly—what it means to be herself.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read Noteworthy, because I have read so many cross-dressing manga narratives that I felt kind of burnt out by the whole troupe. However, I needed a book for AsianLitBingo (read until bottom for details), and I thought “why not?” So I gave it a try, and I’m so glad I did! Book Reading Playlist – Wintersong

wintersong_inspired_playlist

Hey all, so I’ve decided to feature a book reading playlist inspired by a different book I read once a month! I’m just trying to broaden my blog content, and I thought this would be a good idea. This is an English blog, and I do mostly listen to Asian songs (Mando-pop, K-pop/rock, J-pop/rock, Phil-pop, etc.) but I’ll try to keep it to mostly English songs. Plus I think this will be a good way for me to find new songs too!

This month I’ve decided to make a playlist for Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones, because that’s pretty much all my life has been the last two weeks! So here are thirteen songs I’ve been loving which remind me of the book!

13.  Make Me (Cry) by Noah Cyrus ft. Labrinth Continue reading “Book Reading Playlist – Wintersong”
